The Mind Doctor is an 8-part medical mystery podcast series, produced by Voyage Media, about a doctor who solves cases at the intersection of mental and physical health. Executive produced by Dr. Hartmann, this fictional drama series is inspired by some of his real cases.
Board-certified in both Family Medicine and Psychiatry, Dr. Hartmann became the go-to psychiatric consultant liaison at the University of Maryland Medical Center for one reason: his uncanny ability to unravel baffling medical mysteries that stumped other doctors—by identifying when psychiatric symptoms masked underlying medical conditions—and when medical illnesses presented with psychiatric features. His most compelling cases—ranging from psychosomatic paralysis to toxin-induced psychosis—are dramatized in The Mind Doctor.
The series follows Dr. Bruce Young as he solves complex cases at the intersection of mental and physical health, based on real cases from Dr. Peter Hartmann. Each episode presents a baffling medical mystery that stumps other doctors, which Dr. Young investigates, highlighting dramatic, emotionally resonant narratives with ethical dilemmas. It is a fictional series created for fans of medical procedurals like House, ER, and The Pitt for its gripping, real-life blend of drama and medical insight. Launched in the summer 2025, the show hit #2 on the drama podcast charts on Apple Podcasts. The Mind Doctor is a production of Voyage Media. Dr. Hartmann serves as Executive Producer.
