Here is some good news! Cases of monkeypox infections are going down in the U.S. Recently, there has been a 25% decline in new cases.
This decline is attributed to more people getting vaccinated against the virus, and more people are avoiding risky sexual behavior.
Another bit of good news is that virologists have determined by DNA testing of the monkeypox virus and the smallpox virus that the monkeypox virus cannot mutate into the smallpox virus. Both viruses belong to the same family of viruses so there was some concern.
